We have a traveller on our 33 footer but it is somewhat inconveniently mounted on the transom. For our first two seasons cruising we didn't use it because we thought it was really for racers. Then we were taught how to use it properly and it's made a big difference.
Like all modern wide-beam yachts ours sails better when kept upright. When the wind gets up we have found the traveller really useful in depowering the mainsail just enough to reduce the heel and take away the weather helm. The result has been a more comfortable and faster boat.
