?No spark from small 2 stroke outboard.

Kill cord detached and still no spark from a new plug removed from the body, but touched to ground on engine. I read somewhere that a ohm meter could tell whether the ignition coil could give an indication if it worked. True, and if so what should be a "good" reading?

If kill cord detached, you won't get a spark.

Perhaps I should have said disconnected; I have a reading of 9.83 for resistance.
