No Ropes

There is but one Rope on a boat, that is the one on the ship's bell (if fitted). All others have names i.e. Lines, Sheets, Painter etc. etc.

Yes and no. Rope is a material. All lines, sheets, painters etc are made of rope, they're not (in nautical speak) ropes as such.

Well theres loads of rope on my boat since some times its a painter and at others its a stern line, a shore line or what ever. No its just bloody rope on my boat.
