No, not 'Up in Smoke' but 'In the Smoke'!

We're off to London tomorrow, for our annual pilgrimage to St Kats.

Our rather ambitious plan is to depart Windsor on Thursday morning, and arrive at Tower Bridge during the same evening!

Even more amazing is the fact we have planned a return passage five days later....LOL

I hope you remembered to book St Kats, please observe speed limits and keep your wash to acceptable levels on the tidal Thames, especially past the moorings at Broomhouse dock Fulham. Have a good trip.

I dont

Think speed and wash will be an issue.......even the rowers will overtake him.....

Any half-decent rower will easily pass a motor-cruiser doing the legal speed in EA or upper PLA waters.

I am sure John will readily agree however, "No Regrets" is not noted for either high speeds or production of wake...

:)

Thankyou

Saw you and your vessel today passing the pontoon at Broomhouse dock, your speed and wash were perfect for the people on the pontoon. Again thankyou. Just as an aside, why were you punching the tide?

We're back!

We took a detour to the Thames barrier with Jaws. He chaperoned us there and back, but sadly it did involve tide punching all the way.

Result: £150 fuel from Bray to the barrier and back :(

No problems however, photos to follow!

Cheers chaps...

You left half an hour before we departed downstream, and there was only a bearded fat guy there on the way back!

One of the Dogs left you a pressie though... (Only joking...)

We asked for you, but the fat guy said 'Who?'

We're not sure you really work there now....LOL

Mrs NR enjoying helming in London!

2nd one is our beloved Commodore gliding past the Wheel!

He was funny!

The whole trip went perfectly, with no mechanical glitches, despite punching the tide for the entire tidal portion, partially due to St Kats locking times and our 7.5 knot maximum cruising speed, and partially because we wanted to reach our insured limit of the Thames Barrier, which meant catching the last knockings of the incoming tide, and then turning to enjoy the first bit of the outgoing as we neared West London!

The last hour or so was at maximum throttle using both the main engine, and the Nanni Wing, which gave us 8.5 knots, or a true 6.5mph according to GPS. Neither engine showed signs of stress, apart from a little excess coolant coming out of the overflows due to running at full temperature! Cooled levels showed normal limits (Both engines just serviced, so 'topped up' a little generously...)

Fuel used was £150, which equates to 34 gallons or so, for 100 miles, meaning 3.4 mpg, or just over 0.75 gallons per hour!

Not bad for a fully laden 30 footer and lots of adverse current IMHO...

Whilst at St Kats, we met up with Brays new Commodore (Jaws) and had a most enjoyable time, and he then kindly suggested a trip to the Barrier, hence the photos (See Bray CC's Facebook group too!)
We always seem to meet up with other Bray-ites wherever we go! Must be millions of 'em...

Weather was good too!
