No power at Marsh lock

Perhaps if all the locks operated the same on public power this would not be an issue, why is it that on some you only have to press the sluice button once and others you have to keep your finger on the button?
Quite simply because not all systems are the same - there are at least 3 different designs. I am currently trying to identify which locks have which systems so that we can produce a comprehensive guide to all the locks which have public power.

One of the regulations concerning the wearing of a Blue Ensign states the vessel must be a least 7 Metres or two tonnes. Seems unlikely that a "Gentleman's Launch" would qualify?
Plenty of Gentlemens launches over 7 metres - take a look here: http://www.stanleyandthomas.co.uk/brokerage/brokerage.php
Can't understand all this pomposity about flying the "blue" - especially when no real entitlement. As an ex Merchant Navy officer I'm proud to fly a pristine, sewn Red Ensign.
Cant believe how many bl**dy club burgees I'm now flying - including, would you believe, no less than those of 3 ATYC clubs !

Re tripping out and then reverting to winding - it was Marsh lock we had such a problem about 5 years ago. Eyot Canoe Club (ie Henley Canoe Club) and one of the coaches tripped it out, pushed all buttons at once. At that time it certainly didn't revert back to winding power, and we had to haul the kayaks out of the lock. If they have changed the system so it reverts to winding a big improvement IMO.

Nice to have corroboration. I didn't take notes at the time (well I did but I can't find them).

Does anyone know what happened to the published instructions - I'm sure there was a page or two on ethe OLD EA website?

Or for B1 - is there a document hidden in the bowels of EA that could be broadcast. It may not stop folks being (whatever) but at least these some info to point them at....

"wait till the flashing lights stop, and press the next button"

As mentioned by True Blue and myself over the years, the issue is peeps closing the sluices at both ends when they leave the lock. Half an hour later the next boater can't get anything to work, and in exasperation pushes every button in sight. The lock has slightly filled up in that time, so then needs to go through the whole process of filling and emptying. An EA sign "Leave lock empty, gates closed and lower sluice open" would help greatly in this regard. However I should say my wife always wants to close the sluices!
