but if I had been the Pope, I would have instructed for my death & funeral to be joyous, afterall I will have gone to where I believed was heaven. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would have told all those heads of state, don't come, just send the equivalent
amount to my Papal Aids charity, as we are going to have a joyful low key ceremony.

& most of all don't promote my books (of which it was pointed out there was more than one) at my funeral.

I'm not totaly unreligious. But what gets me, is as far as I know, christianity is all about the teachings of Jesus. Now did he not upturn the tables in the synagog and go and teach among the people. Helping them and curing there ills. OK I dont expect that the Pope can create mericles. But jesus needed no posh church, thats what it's suposed to be about, not all this pomp and ceremony, waving of incence or whatever. Seems to me, they aint got a clue what christianity is all about. I might even join them, if they practiced what they preach and did not have a stash of billions!!

Could'nt agree more, think of the good you could do with the hundreds of millions they have in art, real estate, stock market investments, interests in media, oil, currency, gold you name it they have a finger in the pie. If you ever get to Rome have a look at the Papal buildings and outlying palaces and churches, unbelievable, even Bill Gates could'nt afford the up keep.

Nah, thats old hat that is.

Long gone are the times when the Cardinals used to feel for the old "meat and two veg" to make sure they were getting a Mr Pope and not a Mrs Pope.

In these enlightened times the Equal Opportunities Commission will ensure that the new Pope is chosen without prejudice to gender, sexual alignment, colour, political or religious persuassion. Indeed I have it on good authority that Graham Norton and Lily Savage are both watching the chimney pot in a state of heightened expectation! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Totally unfair! Why would she send her hubby?

I saw Her Worshipfullness in an ABA light welterweight contest at Barrow-in- Furness last November. Over the three round contest her unorthodox southpaw style totally outwitted her opponent (a young midwife from Kirkby Lonsdale.)

More importantly! not one of his pall bearers was bald, all his Vatican guard are well over two metres tall (a requirement) all his cardinals have to wear red. Do I need to go on?

I could never be a cardinally inclined, pall bearing, Vatican guard! Don`t you all see, its predudice!!! Red really doesn`t suit me /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif))

He has a papal aids charity whilst continuing to denounce the use of condoms which would prevent so much of the disease. Horse, stable door and bolted spring to mind ----- as well as other words !

well I suppose regarding aids I can understand the birth control aspect clash's with the catholic church, but the church could preach abstainance till marriage, would have thought thats right up their steet . Together with no adultery. All of that should go some way to limit the spread of aids.

Think whilst he was dying the other cardinals rather gave the game away, all that grieving, now if they really really believed surely they would have been laughing, not crying. Just my opionion not trying to be anti anything.

It can`t work in some parts of Africa becaue the Culture dictates that when a person with children is widowed usually by Aids but not necessarily, to save her going on the streets to feed her family, she and her family are adopted by the deseased Brother and where applicable his family. The rest is as they say History. Its all about education not religion, even though the two do seem to go hand in hand in the undeveloped/ unexploited world.
