A guy by the name of Jan de Wit has just lost his appeal against conviction for Virus writing. A Netherlands court convicted him last September for writing the Kournikova worm last year. His sentence was extremely lenient at 150 hours community service or 75 hours in jug.

He appealed, saying that it wouldn't look good on his CV and might hamper his career!

He says, when he wrote the virus, (which affected hundreds of thousands of computer users). he didn't mean any harm!

How about endorsing his CV, much like a drivers licence, "Brainless"? Sad part is, that in reality, he will probably be snapped up..

Not sailing I know - but we are all on a computer here!

A lot of the interesting one's aren't about sailing - look at the Galicia response (I suppose there is a loose link - but it was the larger problem being discussed)

I can't quite fathom what these people get out of it.

Yes, I can believe that Bill. It's a sure fire way to get noticed then! Crime doesn't pay?

As someone who runs a company and constantly has to see that everyone updates NAV, I'd like to see the proper penalties inflicted.
