Hi all I have been racking my brains trying to fathom a way to fix my fenders without having cumbersome knots and wharps on my decks.
I have fabricated from oak a non slip easy to adjust for height method which tidies it all up see photos what do you think??

Cheap and cheerful as long as there's a suitable attachment point, but they will take two hands to remove/adjust, especially if they've been there for a while.
Probably OK if you always go to a pontoon of the same height, and just flip the fenders inboard when under way.
Not at all suitable for my kind of boat use, where flexibility and one-handed manipulation add to speed of changing sides for example.

Yes one sea in have seen these plastic fittings but found they were very expensive but thanks anyway for comment.

I am guessing she is more of an inland boat and you do not remove the fenders every time at which point your more secure chocks make much more sense...

For the record I am with PRV on this and tie knots...

Can anyone tell me from experience what these are like to use compared with just tying the fender to the lifeline ? Are they quicker or easier to do with one hand or just a waste of money ?

I think they're for numpties who can't tie knots :p

I have one onboard and use it as a stopper to hold halyards at the mast without to much load temporarily. Its handy for that cause its quicker than a rolling hitch and normally pops of when I take the load else where.

I would not use one for fenders but it is handy where I use it, I am sure it could have other similar uses....

Sure, yep, a clam cleat on a line seems like it could be a useful thing in some places. I was specifically referring to its use with fenders, where it seems to solve a problem that doesn't exist.
