Hello everyone,

I am a new owner of a Jaguar 25 boat. There is quite a lot of electronics on board, but most of it is rather outdated.

Below is the list of equipment:

Garmin GPS 128
NASA Clipper Depth
NASA Clipper Log
NASA Clipper GPS
Tacktick MN30
NASA Marine SX35 DSC
Raymarine ST1000+ with wired controller

My main objective is to be able to control the autopilot from the Garmin Boating app. From what I have learned so far, I will need to use a multiplexer to achieve this. To integrate the Tacktick MN30, I will also need an appropriate gateway.

I would also like to add AIS to the system, if possible. I am planning to base everything mainly on NMEA 0183, with the option to integrate SeaTalk1 and NMEA 2000.

At this stage, these are only theoretical assumptions, so I would like to seek practical advice on how best to approach this upgrade and what exact equipment will be required.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Hmm I didn't think the boating app could control autopilot, only display data. I'm happy to be shown I'm wrong though.

A raspberry pi with open plotter is the cheap way to do most of what you want.

The orca app and orca core is the expensive way but in many ways probably simpler.

You can control the autopilot only with other Raymarine equipment via Seatalk 1, or hobbyist amateur devices. It uses proprietary Raymarine messages that are not specified by NMEA0183 or NMEA2000.

You can get a TackTick NMEA0183 to wireless interface but Raymarine have stopped making them, old ones on eBay is your only option. Probably not worth spending money on a discontinued system.
