Nissan 3.3hp 2-stroke - gear selector?

We have one and the drive/neutral lever's becoming increasingly stiff to operate. I was advised here a few weeks ago that this is a 'known problem and that I should open it up and clean/grease/replace the lever's bearing', but sadly I can find no reference in my workshop manual (it's for the tohatsu version) of how you do this and looking at the unit, it's not obvious, can anyone advise?

Yes, found a diagram that VicS'd posted, just what I needed; it referred to a Mercury version and that's what amzes/confuses me the post, our 18 month old Nissan's very stiff and has been from day one, the 18 year old Merc's lever has never been/needed touching.
