I would be really grateful for any info on the anchorage at Vasiliko. Heikell doesnt say very much except that it offers reasonable holding and shelter from the North. Are there any tavernas there? I was thinking of using Rafina or Porto Rafti as a crew changeover port (and overnighting at Megalo Pitali) but the pilot isnt very enthusiatic about anywhere along that coast. From the map it seems closer to Athens International Airport (Spata I assume) than Piraeus.

Any comments/suggestions gratefully received.

I don't know about Megalo Petali but I recently anchored overnight just outside the port at Rafti (Markopoulo). There's good shelter in the bay, tavernas in the port and good holding. Also very close to the airport.

A few years back there was no taverna there (Basiliko) but it should be all right for a night. If you do it, with anything below F5 you deserve it to yourself a small visit and lunch-swim to the North side of the island but watching the depths. Porto Rafti is the best all around solution in all weathers as already stated. However it also depends on the time available, the weather and where the boat is coming from, as an F4-5 North in Saronic translates to a funneling F6-7 in South Evoikos. So with boat say around Sounion area and such a forecast, I would not dream all that beating!! just to pick up crew. Have a nice time lucky fellow.
