Wow,
Just got back from a few days on the boat and I can honestly say I have never had a night like last night. Winds were gusting to 55 knots and coming side onto the yachts in the marina.

Covers were tearing, yachts were trying to sail on the pontoons. WE were up at 3 am when the zips in the aft awning decided they had had enough and gave up the ghost.

Just to go round the deck you had to hang onwith both hands.
Quite an experience.
I was impressed though to see one yachtsmen appear at about 5 am struggle down the pontoon, check his boat and make a hasty return to home.

With daylight I spent a bit of time going round trying to tie down covers, furling sails and loose ropes on other boats.

We spent the rest of the day repairing the canvas damage ( thank goodness my wife was prepared to re stitch all the zips by hand). Then as we were leaving circa 5 pm today with the tide up came the wind again. Only about 40 knots this time I was told.

No pics as it was allin th dark

I wouldn't want to be on this situation. It's really crazy to be on these situations. I'm glad all went fine for you.

Spent sat night onboard in Hull Marina - our worst gusts seemed to be later at about 5.30 to 6.30 am.
Slept better on board than laid at home worrying - always do.
