WOW, What a response to my question,Thank you, thank you, everybody who responded...
Decision time:-
In answer to some questions asked ,my boat is 9mtrs long and will be at anchor over wreck, this is purely pleasure diving remembering that I have next to 24hours darkness here, but still useing my boat.
I have decided to mount red-white-red,and will be displaying anchor light aswell,no nav lights as I will not be moving.
If anybody thinks the above plan is totally wrong please feel free to say so .
Thanks again to everybody, nice to know I can count on you folks back in England to come up with the goods............

Reading, and re-reading the regulations. I'd say that you can just display the red white red all round, and no anchor light.

COOL,

How about this as a plan and a bit of advice from someone that does this sort of diving and planning dives like these have done for a long time, mainly in the Dover Straits where we have the busiest shipping channel in the world.

1), So, your dives will take place from a 9 mt RIB, have a COXSWAIN that knows what he is doing.

2), When divers are down, display RED WHITE RED plus Nav lights.

3), DO NOT ANCHOR, patrol the area , and keep the engine running at all times. Mark your shotline buoy with a RED CYLUME night stick , that way , the cox will not get confused by a dim divers torch.

4), Have handy nearby and not in the flare box ,,, WHITE handheld flares for attraction / collision,,, plus diver recalls in case you need them up quick.

5) DON'T let any divers in the water, until they have shown the cox that they have 2 means of light & and a means of making sound ie whistle.

6) Let someone ashore know what your up to before leaving ,,, starting the dive,, divers all up safe & well .

7) Have a safe dive.

if you need more detailed info e:mail me at taurusdiving@aol.com

Displaying restricted in ability to manover means you are restricted due to the nature of your work if this is the case then fine but if you are at anchour with lights then that says it all really i dont think there is restricted at anchor if you are interested in this i will look it up.

Hope this helps

The signals indicate that you have divers down. If you just have anchor lights, then how is anyone supposed to know? Have a look at the original thread - the relevant rules are on there

What's the water temperature there during the winter, and what sort of kit do you use? What sort of things do you see during 24hrs dark, is there much fish life?
