Didn't you bother finding out how seaworthy they were before you bought it?
Must have been cheap!
Nics have a reputation as being very seaworthy boats. The 30 is a cruiser/racer designed as a Half Ton Cup contender.
I found one for sale on the web. The blurb said (among other things) - 'The Nicholson 30 has exceptional handling qualities even in the most severe conditions.'
(Mind you, that was a broker saying that!)
Lucky you to be able to splash out on a boat you know relatively little about.. you struck lucky they're good.. some of us have been quietly doing our research and adding up our pennies trying to work out the best boat for us at our price for months/years
A good buying decision. I owned one for a number of years recently, won lots of JOG races, cruised to Spain and back, had her out in all weathers, and she never let us down. Only reason for sale...wanted a stern cabin. They do everything a Contessa 32 does, but with more space, more speed, and a fraction of the cost to buy. And don't worry about the Fastnet problem, that was the c1978 Holland-designed Nich 303 type, and not our 1969 Raymond Wall design!
