But what do you do when instructed to go to a berth that is too narrow - as I was last year, at Milford Haven?

If in a Swedish boat with brass-bound rubbing strakes, increase throttle to maximum and press on through!

Of course, in that case the berth was defined by piles, not other boats. We bent them significantly outwards as we went through.

Nice manoeuvre into a space just wide enough.

But what do you do when instructed to go to a berth that is too narrow - as I was last year, at Milford Haven?

In Toulon when the port was full you stuck your bow between the stern of boats already moored at the marina and tied up as best you could.
