If you are one of those that doesnt have to become a rocket......

and launch /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Already done my rocket /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Mains now hooked up so batteries can charge on the pontoon
Now I've got to fit the new bilge pump and figure out why she's suddenly taking on more water than she has been up to now /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Was hoping to get out with the weather that's forecast but priorities seem to have put that on hold /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

We're hoping to get out and explore our boat's new home of the Orwell, and thereabouts.

Got the boat there on Sunday after a very cold few days' single-handed trip from Lymington (frost on the deck on all but the last of the mornings), bringing the boat round to follow our recent house move. I've almost thawed out now, and so looking to get back on the water to make the most of a couple more weeks off work.

I wonder if I'll see (though probably wouldn't recognize) any of the forumites I've read on here.

Our boat was bred for East Coast mud, but was brought up in the West Country, and has spent her recent adolescence flitting about the Solent and Channel. So only now, perhaps, settling down to her true destiny?

Went out today for first sail this year. Well, not much of a sail - sails hung limp while we drifted up the Stour on the tide. Still, we got out and the sky didn't fall in so there will be nothing stopping us now. Saturday, here we come...

Welcome to the Orwell.
You'll find quite a few of us forumites in your area - Shotley, Levington, Ipswich, Fox's, Woolverstone and various points between.
Cheers
D

Hi Carvel
We're new to the Orwell too. Only just got ourselves a boat. Will hopefully take her for a sail/motor up/down river this weekend. If we see you out there we'll wave to you.

Thanks to you all for the kind welcomes. We'll look out for you on the Orwell (and Sunsetgirl, on the A140?!).

Was out on my own last weekend, but first outing on the Orwell for the First Mate today - hiding together behind the sprayhood with cups of tea as we motored against wind and tide from SYH (where we are temporarily) to find the Pin Mill mooring we'll be moving to shortly.

Hi Carvel
Yes, we'll no doubt see you on the A140, as well as the river. We're off down to Woolverstone again (where our boat is moored) tomorrow (Saturday) morning. We did get out for our first sail last Sunday, having spent Saturday sorting things out on the boat and doing 'pontoon bashing'. We're still not entirely happy with the mooring side of things but will probably do more of that tomorrow. We've done the courses and know the theory side of things, but it's much more scary and nerve-wracking when it's your own boat! If that goes well, we might get out for a quick sail.
If we do and we see you out there we'll give you a wave.
Happy sailing!
