Nice Colvic for sale on ebay

Looks good i would love to have one of these boats as a wheelhouse is getting more appealing , but "teak decks on plywood" hummm could be costly to repair,i know cos i'm slowly repairing my cockpit seats made the same way. lots of these boats around for that kind of money finding a half decent one is the problem.

What makes this one a bit special is the aft cabin on a 28, rare and makes a difference. Wheelhouses, wide side desk and bulwarks make the Colvic Watson a good family cruiser.

A ten grand money pit:eek:

I wouldn't say that, she looks allright to me. 10k is the buy it now so s/he might accept a little less. How much to have the aft cabin professionally fitted and furnished ? Say £4k ? You might have her in the water with a complete set of brand new sails for £18k, not too far off the pace I wouldn't have thought.

What an ugly motorsailer!

A boat is a pleasure, what pleasure do you find in an ugly boat?

I quite like em! OK they are a fishing boat with sails but to me they're akin to an old Land Rover, they have a working, earthy image. Not quick, not pretty, but a sturdy workhorse that will get you through most conditions!

Old boats which have been messed about with  think you really need to fully aware of what you are taking on and the costs involved especially with these. I wouldn't fancy having to put a new engine in or paying for rigging/masts and dealing with miles of hacked up electrics from previous owners :( but then thats the challenge for some, similar to restoring an old car...
