Taking a few days off next week with the weather being so good. One of the places we want to try on Monday night (only been there for day visits before) is Bembridge. Now I see we can't enter before HW-3 so wondered if any of you could recommend a good anchoring spot to have lunch near to Bembridge whilst we wait for the tide??

It depends on the wind direction.

If the wind is from the South/W, then Priory Bay (just a bit north of Bembridge) is sheltered. It goes shallow quite a way out, but it's sandy, and a great beach.

If the wind is from the North/W, then the South side of the island is more sheltered, so you can go around the corner to WhiteCliff Bay or a bit further along to Sandown Bay. Don't cut the corner - follow the orange buoys and Bembridge Ledge / W.Princessa around. Cole Rock is somewhere there!

If the wind is coming briskly from the East, you're stuffed

In gentle winds just off Seaview to the west of Bembridge, a couple of miles east from Ryde. Pull in to a few metres and just drop the pick. Or just by St Helen's Fort. When the rocks next to the Fort are just visible time to go in.

Between the lifeboat station and St Helens Fort, just outside the Redwing moorings ( too close in and you'll be on the sandbank). Priory Bay as suggested already, or Seagrove Bay (the next bay round from Priory). Go even further round past Seaview Yacht Club and associated mooring and you'll be off the Duver between the village of Seaview and Appley - again don't go too close in or you'll dry at low tide. Nearly all this area is subject to a 6 knot speed limit within half a mile of the shore, so you should be reasonably comfortable at anchor unless there are twats about. If the wind is anywhere in the East go up the Medina instead, or into Newtown.
