I wonder what brought this on;

think of all those cartons bearing pictures of green hills and legends like “Mother Heiney’s Cottage Chicken Pie”, but whose slurpy contents actually originate on an industrial estate in Kettering.

Oi!!!!!!!!!!!
Purvey!!!!!!!!!!!
There's nothing wrong with Kettering!!!!!!!!!!!
(Actually there is but as someone who lives fairly close by, I reserve the right to insult it myself, rather than have someone who has probably never visited said place slag it off so profoundly!!!!!!)

Yes, but what's the problem with her mother-in-law's chickety-boo pies?

Apart from, of course, the savage and unwarranted asault upon the good people of Kettering? And their trading estate's errrmm wonderful pies.

I often (well, occasionally) wonder if Libby is related to Peter Purves of Blue Peter fame. The mind boggles somewhat at the idea of a Purves family sailing trip long, long ago:

Mother: Libby, Peter are you ready?

Libby: Just trying to fit Ulysses and the complete works of Shakespeare into the bookshelf. Is it ok if I move this dartboard of Peter's out of the way.

Peter: GET DOWN PETRA

Father: One of you children cast off the bow line please.

Peter: Actually, Petra seems to have bitten through it. But I should be able to fix it with some string and sticky back plastic.
