I have been reworking the MD11C in the boat for a while now. Big list of works done already, next task on the list is the fuel system. My mechanic friend has become unwell and left me in charge of the simple stuff for a bit - so I will be asking some daft questions, but the engine should be ready for him to inspect when he is well enough. Rest assured I won't be going to sea without somone good casting their eye over my work.
Between the diesel inlet on the engine and the primary diesel filter (about to be upgraded) is a black braided hose with what look like crimped on 'bayonet' style fittings. I photographed them and will try to upload, but for now my simple questions are:
1) what are they (based on simple description)?
2) where do I getaway new one (there appears to be an old repair using split Jose pipe and electricians tape!)?
3) before I start wrestling and cutting them off - how do they attach?
Thanks.
