Soooooooo... with the April and May bank holidays coming around the corner fast, who's going to step into the breach and arrange the next one? :encouragement:

So when do we all want to meet up then ?

I can't make the April bank holidays due to being overseas but the start of May would probably work. Alternatively do we want to meet up outside the Bank holls?

I'm thinking possibly a Saturday night rather than a Friday as we might have the option of arriving by boat rather than car.

Saturday's work well for me Henry. Tend to get more attendees if organised on the mainland so I'd shoot for that rather than the island :encouragement: Any weekend will do in my opinion and in fact, it may be better to go for one outside of a weekend as most folk have other arrangements of a bank holiday. May works for me too.

cheers Gary

About time I had another birthday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!................ so on a selfish note, T.M. should be at mercury if they get their rumoured "offer" sorted so a Saturday out of bankholls might be better...IMO..

Can't say too much at this stage, "Q" is aware but sworn to secrecy. Agent 006 being briefed this evening at a secret location.

Mainland location but with an offshore twist.

I've said too much already. I agree re: not doing a bank holiday as people have other plans.

Right then.

The plan is to hold it at Trinity's (the green light ship which marks the entrance to Haslar marina).

Over the past few years the lightship has sunk further and further into the depths of culinary mediocrity. The worst Sunday lunch I have ever tasted in my life was eaten there !

It has recently been taken over by a lady called Maria who has a string of local pubs and restaurants in her CV. We ate there last night and even without the head chef, (a pre-booked skiing trip) the meal was excellent. When he arrives back the head chef has potential to produce some very interesting dishes.

It's early days there and at the moment they are running a "soft launch" working up to the main season. By May things will be in full swing.

I'm hoping that Haslar Marina will offer a bit of a discount to visiting boats and Trinity's will also do something a little special for us. There are a couple of more private areas we could have as well as "The runway" an outside area which houses a marquee.

Either way it should prove to be an interesting venue. Portsmouth historic docks are just across the harbour (foot ferry 5 mins walk) as is Gunwharf Quays which has berthing if you need to transport serious amounts of shopping.

Haslar it's self enjoys 24 hour access with no tidal constraints and you're out into the Solent in literally 2 minutes.

All we need to do it firm up a date.

Right then.

May 5th is a Bank holiday

May 16th - 18th is the Great British motor yacht manufacturers show of 2014

May 26th is yet another bank holiday.

That would leave Saturday 10th May. Is that too close to the Swanwick boat show where some of us will no doubt be meeting up? So do we have a bit of a gathering around the British boat show and save Haslar & Trinity's for June?

Henry :)
