The boatyard is accessible at most states of the tide except for an hour or so either side of low water springs. We went there this weekend (just near low water springs) - motored to about 40 ft from the wall when the outboard prop started dragging in the mud. Rowed the rest of the way. That was about 7.30pm with low water around 6-6.30.

Re: With or without wellies?

bugger all to do with the depth of water but, go to the new inn in shalfleet, take some money and have your dinner there. it's really good. no i don't run or own it, but i make sure it's a stop off when i go to the island.

regards, steve.

PS you pays for what you get so take lots of cash!

Re: With or without wellies?

Went there this summer. Pub very popular and would need booking to garantee a table. Most seem to have 2 sittings starting at 1830 and 2030 hours approx (the notices on the tables said who had booked and what time turning up).
Beer very good as wel

What a helpful lot they all are!

From my experience (of getting to the pub) access is JUST about available at all times except for 1 hour either side of low water.

I did manage it with 3 men in my dingy at almost low water on a spring. The prop was in the mud a tad though.

What risk will you take in order to stay in the pub!

Went there Friday. Harbourmaster confirmed the +/- 1 LW. However on my return from New Inn, timed accordingly, found very little water. Had to pull dinghy 10m to water then punted enough to get motor going. Only neaps. Think probably +/- 2 LW safer.

Anyway super sail, fabulous weather and excelellent food & beer at New Inn.
