My boat draws 1.2m and I go in and out of Newtown whenever I like. My book says 1.5m at CD so 2m+ at MLWS.

Agree withe DJE. Anytime with 1.2m, but at LWS you'll be a bit restricted where you can anchor. Note the approach has changed in the last few years and is no longer on the line of the target beacons, which seem partially dismantled. Simply
keep to the buoys in the approach.

Used to go in any time we liked with 1.5m.

Always took it nice and slow at LWS with eyes very firmly on depth sounder but only touched once when we were moving over to let a larger boat pass in the opposit direction.
