Just sold my Westerly Pageant and am looking for something smaller. On my travels I have been offered a Navigator which needs a bit of work done to it sitting on a newish 4 wheel trailer. I have heard about the sailing characteristics of these boats so I do not need any comments on those, but at circa £1200 it seems too good to miss. There is no engine (it had been originally been fitted with an inboard but that has gone leaving just a bit of propshaft blocking the stern gland (how do you permanently seal a stern gland)? The rigging seems complete with hank on sails but no upholstery or table inside. There are also 2 puzzling holes drilled through the hull on either side of the heel (swing Keel) which the sceptic in me hopes were not to let water out!!! So should I go for it? The trailer alone is worth a lot. Thanks, Peter.

I loved mine, it still hurts to see it sitting rotting because I gave it away to someone who doesnt value it. Good strong well made little boats.

Trailer looks good! Memories of the boat when new was that it was not well finished, but guess you have to assess it on its current condition. Originally had the outboard in an offset well which suffered badly from fumes when we ran a Seagull in it, but is probably OK with a 5hp or so 4 stroke.

It may be worth checking that the trailer has working brakes, I don't see a hand brake on it. Also, if it's been tarted up I would suspect rot under the new paint but that may be me being cynical.

Mind you, at £1200 you can't loose much. If you get a 2 week holiday out of it you have broken even.
