Evening all,

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum as i've become an owner of a Rinker 250 Fiesta Vee.

Its a 2003 version with a 5.0v8 MPI Mercruiser which only has 147hrs on it.

The boat will be based in cardiff bay which is local to myself.

Looking forward to many happy years of boating as its been awhile since i last had my previous boat

Thankyou all, yes i'm quite happy with it all. I love the styling and also the deck layout making it easier to mingle with people when out on top

Hi Matty, can I also welcome you to this forum. The Rinker is a popular boat, and I hope you get many happy days on board. We are based at Portishead, and visit Cardiff now and again, so hope to see you in the bay.

Welcome from West Wales.

Do tell of your plans for getting away from Cardiff!

Mike
Sea Symphony

Thankyou Mike.

I'll be honest, i've had all my previous boats down in Dartmouth South devon which i know the coastline and area quite well.

Never really been in and around cardiff area so dont know the water so well though have bought charts and trying to get local knowledge of where and when to avoid too.

The plan will be to visit more of the areas around south & west wales plus north devon and possibly down to cornwall though may need to drag a tanker behind me for that one.

Do you have any places that are good to visit ?

Welcome Matty,

I too spent many years around on the Dart. But previous to that, spent many happy years with my father with his boat from Newport to Barry, Porlock and Ilfracombe.

Enjoy..

Hi Matty and welcome. We are also in Cardiff bay - moored in Penarth marina. Lots of places to visit, we are off to Swansea on Saturday for a couple of days and then off to Lundy to spend our first night at anchor. From Cardiff you can easy do Portishead in around an hour and Sharpness is around 2.5 hours. If the weather is not to good you can blast around the bay or just visit Mermaid Quays - some very good Italian restaurants. We will keep an eye out for you, our boat is called Lazy Days.

Happy boating

Hi and welcome,

Rinker is a good boat and idea for boating in Cardiff Bay and Channel. How far have you been out thus far?

Where are you moored?

Thankyou Mike.

Definitely keep away from Pembrokeshire... The tree lined upper reaches of the Cleddau are simply awful and it would be wrong to encourage anyone to visit! And then there is the new marine centre around Saundersfoot (apparently) although we've not looked at that yet.

We are in Neyland and its pretty perfect there I reckon.

Thats right Mike, our corner of the world is terrible, full of bandits and pirates and the coastline is treacherous with weather to match.....keep away for sure....

Cheers Tony, will be getting out and about over the next couple of weeks to make the most of the good weather we have left

Thankyou, only round the bay at the moment. Only recently took ownership so getting to grips with it.

Mooring is over Cardiff Marina

I always thought that, i may as well go back down south though it would be rude to not try and beat off some of those pesky pirates.
