Hello!

This is only my second post to the Forum after having spent 2.5 years researching (and changing my mind!) which mobo to buy - a lot of useful insight has been gained from reading (and laughing at in some cases!) the posts and knowledgeable responses on these pages.

In the above period, I have done the RYA Day Skipper, Motor Helmsman, VHF DSC SRC, Day Skipper Practical and Marine Diesel courses and I am now itching to get on the water....you all know that feeling of being drawn towards the water, I'm sure!

I have recently bought my first boat, a 2003 MF925 (which I have renamed Lady Eleanor). Having gone over her inside and out, a fair-sized 'to do' list has been generated - one of those jobs is to replace the corroded gas strut which supports the flybridge hatch when in the raised position. I have found a supplier but need to know what the Newton rating of the strut is before I can order a new one. Can any other MF925 owners out there assist at all?

She is currently out of the water having a new nav suite fitted - I am hoping she will be back in at the end of this month. My first objective is to practice getting Lady Eleanor into and out of her berth in various conditions, as I am quite daunted by the thought of this task! But 'practice, practice, practice' is the oft-repeated term on these pages, so I will be doing just that! Then there is the River Mersey to get used to, but first things first!

I am hopeful that someone out there will be able to assist with the above query....

There are a few more questions I need to ask, but will post these separately to avoid boring everyone in one hit.

Thanks for reading this far!

Hi Dizzy

great stuff - was the boat was called 'Hard Earned' previously ? Sorry I cant help on the strut but if you are in Liverpool Marina then there is a chap called Graham who gave me lessons 2 years ago, he is berthed there and well known in the boat yard and marina office - its just a thought and maybe worth approaching him. If you look at my thread about my manoeuvres yesterday, that is no reflection on his teaching skills just my learning aptitude. Good luck and hope to see you around.
Cheers

Mike
