could anyone advise me what sort of running costs would be expected for a 2006 Sunseeker Manhatton 50 please - twin Man 800's with c 1,000 hrs - annual service, fuel, major renewals ?

Any fifteen to 16 meter boat with 700hp plus engines needs give or take a 20 to 25k EUROs a year bill exluding fuel.
Yearly service, yard hauling, marina fees, plus a couple of extras for unexpected etc etc

If equipped with Man R6 800hp those are rare (on a 50 Manhattan) but very nice engines, and check the hour reading unit has been fixed as you always find problems in these.

I bought my '06 Man50 earlier this year. My running costs haven't settled down yet to give accurate figures but if you wanted any advice or a chat please pm me.

You have plenty reply on mooring - maintenance cost...

I'd guess the MAN's will burn around 280 - 300 Litres per hour at 75% load (high cruising speed), so if you intend to go far fast, you will need to calculate this in on top of the €20 -25K PA...

Man 800hp R6 burn about 180 lpy (90 per engine) at 70% load, and 190 at 75%. If you have previous no CR LE2848 should be about 10% more.

For 300 lph you are looking for twin 1200hp MAN on a big boat (20-21 meter as a Sanlorenzo 72 or Mairora 20), because even on a Perhsing 54 cruising at 35 knots that goes down to about 250 lph.

Obviously the correct number to say in these more then LPH is Liter per mile. A Sunseeker 50 Manhattan should do about 6.5 to 7 liters per mile more or less at the efficient fast cruise.

Actually, the 800hp 2848 engine not only wasn't common rail, but had a mechanical governor, so it wasn't electronic at all.

Anyway, are you sure of the 10% difference?
I understand that the R6 is electronic and 6 cylinders, as opposed to mechanical V8, but 10% for the same power sounds like a big difference anyway...

Yes quite sure. Since this Summer I was involved quite a bit with two boats one having R6, two week cruise, and one I just sold with 2848.

thanks all 3 for prompt replies, I'd want to keep in western med - a year each in france/sicily/sardina most likely. Will pm @DueSouth & @Pan

Its fairly pointless calculating precise estimates for running costs because there are so many variables. For example you could pay as little as £5k pa to berth a 50 footer in Sardinia or £25k pa to berth it in an upmarket Majorca marina. Similarly you could pay €1.65/L for fuel in Italy or €1.10/L in France. Again labour costs for maintenance may be as low as €20/hr in S Italy or €60/hr in south of France. I've kept various boats in various places in the Med and these would be approximate average costs for keeping a 50 footer there

Berthing £15k pa
Servicing and maintenance £12k pa (assuming no major unplanned maintenance)
Fuel £8k pa (assuming 70hrs at average 15kts)
Insurance £2k
Depreciation ????? (by far and away your biggest cost)

Hi Due South, is also be interested to speak to you more on this to get an understanding. I’m also looking at a Manhattan 50 as a family med boat.

I like the Manhattan 50.

I looked at several before buying my squadron 58.

the mid cabin is nice But headroom compromises. Bunk cabin good. Kitchen large but downstairs so away from the action

The saloon is Spacious but no separate eating area. No huge deal.

the fly bridge helm seat is a bench which did not appeal to me. Also as I recall there was no bbq.

all boats are a compromise and for its size with mid cabin I like them.
