Newbie Alert!

All this talk about engines but I can't see anyone's mentioned the prop. I would have thought a high thrust prop would be needed. Have I missed something?

We used to manage on something that size with a Stuart-Turner inboard which probably had about 4 or 5 HP at best so I would have 25 HP was overkill to put it mildly. I'm willing to be corrected though.

Kwackers, I sincerely hope your navigation is better than your advice. I don't fancy his chances of making the CI's if he comes out of Plymouth and goes right hand down a bit. If he does and he misses Brest, his next stop is La Coruna, the Canary Isles then Rio...

LOL. I deciphered Kwackers posts and read them for what they were, humour mixed in with some solid advice so all is good ;)

Can't beat a good giggle!

On a side not. Grumpy mentioned something about a high thrust prop? Just thought my only engine choice was HP and whether long/short shaft.

Hi, I hope I posted this in the correct place.

I have bought a seamaster 20 captain (drunken eBay moment) and know nothing about boats. Can someone here enlighten me (without obligatory flaming) on how best I get the information.

:p Sorry wasn't trying to be disrespectful. Just touching on how you get your point across in a humourous fashion. which as it happens suits me just fine.

Oldgit, Nice post thanks, anychance you could whip up a service manual/plans. i'd be very greatful. I can't seem to get past Omega watches in google :D

Them big mast thingies to the West of Drakes Island, yer supposed to go between them, I first thought it was a sunken ship so went round them. Bit shocked to discover at low tide, theres loads of spear things stuck up each side to spear the Jerries.

I'll be sure to go straight through thanks for the heads up as Drakes Island is one on my destination points. Anchor off for a spot of fishing ;)

Looks like I have a hell of a lot to learn with this boaty stuff. But that's the exciting part being a newbie :)

I just stumbled upon this flooring: Deckadence marine flooring. Anyone had any experience with it? Looks fantastic as I need to relay my floor and this will hide my dodgey chippy skills.

Here's a link to it: http://www.marineflooring.net/ & here's a youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKjBf782q9c

Seems reasonably priced but if you guy's know of anything similar and cheaper I'm all ears.
