New York to Falmouth

[Capn Pugwash]

Anybody ever sailed this route before? I have bought a yacht , currently located in Long Island, and will be sailing her back in early May.

Info on routes, Pilot books etc would be appreciated. I will be employing a seasoned YM Ocean as skipper but would like to polish up my own knowledge prior to the event.

Hi, I did this route last May. From Bridgeport via Azores to Falmouth and foreward towards Finland. Had the Atlantic crossing guide, necessary maps and SSB to be in contact with Herb for weather forecasts. The routing was very much given by Herb with the weather. Capn_Pugwash - sounds like fun. Is there much to do to the boat before you set off?

Not much, lower bearings to be replaced on the furling headsail and a new holding plate for the fridge! Oh (nearly forgot), need to get the 6 man liferaft recertified/checked. Then there is the matter of victualling! 5 crew - need to know their likes/dislikes! Hard tack is not popular I believe!
