The Dome or O2 as it's known now. I went on the wrong side of the river to take this. I upset a ferry and had a call from London VTS. Talk about make a mountain out of a mole hill. We were the only ones on the river, he didn't have to make adjustments to course. Get a life.

Journey home.
What can I say. Friend came down with a chart on his laptop. All going well until we're coming out of the river mouth heads in the lap top with brief look around every few seconds. Or so I thought.
Small boat ahead on my side of channel. looks like he's fishing.
1. should I cut across in front and go around him
or
2. Move slightly over to stb.

we're in plenty of water so I moved slightly over.
Cut along story short i'm a twat. we run agound. We went from 20ft of water to 3ft in the length of the boat. Luckly we were able to get off no probs. Sigh of relief.

Lessons learnt.
No matter how well you think you know the area concentrate 100%
If you have to cut across a fishing boat to stay in a channel do so. sod em

Great trip. Makes you realise why we do boating.
Hope you like the story. I've kept it brief

Great photo's, we were in St Kat's as well for New Years, although didn't quite get down far enough to actually see the fireworks, hoping we could have seen them from Tower Bridge, but all I saw was the bottom of a champagne glass! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif My Wife actually works on the street of your culture shot, so she was well happy about not having to commute to work for a change, lovely spot though.

The forts are similar to the ones that were in the river Mersey during WW2 They would have been armed with as big a sert of guns as possible. The idea was to sink any enemy landing craft should the invasion actually have taken plase. To my mind a rather suicidal last stand.
Cheers

Drew.
PS. Yes ,you will gather I am old enough to remember them all, I gave that away in the three memories of that wasr I wrote recently in the Lounge.

Yes your right about the forts in the war. They were joined up by a walk way which has since rotted away. A couple of forts were being used as a radio station a while back. Apart from that deserted.

Looks like you all had a great time, perhaps we should try for a forum New Year meet up next time, seems there were lots of us spread over Limehouse and St Kats.
