Its the time of year that many folk start thinking about how "next year will be different", as such I've started to ponder where we will take the new boat, to where we have not sailed before...

...Never crossed the channel, so thats a bigun on my list, what's on your list?

Where next?

I would like to get down to the scillies this year, taken other boats there before but would like to take my own boat down.

Crossing the Solent to the island, sailing round to Langstone and Chichester harbours! Might not be a big deal to some of you guys but to newbies like us it's a great adventure. We just stayed in the harbour last year learnining the ropes, so to speak and also dealing with engine problems, hopefully this year the boat and ourselves will be up to sailing further afield. Also want to try a night at anchor for the first time! So much to learn and experience, so glad we bought a boat, we wouldn't change a thing. Fair winds to you all for 2012

Had been planning on going to Belgium and Holland, but will not risk big fines or impounded boat, so I guess it will be France unless the red diesel issues are sorted in time....

Shetland?

Our ambition is to go from our home port Copenhagen to Shetland. Want to try out our new vind vane and doing a longer crossing. So far longest has been 24 hours. But ewe will see. We have 4 weeks vacation so much depends on a good weather window.

I want to get down to Cornwall. Thwarted by weather last year, as I only had crew available for specific dates. Hopefully will be more flexible this time round.

The idea is to visit the small, usually drying, places that we couldn't get to in a big charter yacht in previous years. A 24' Crabber is ideal for that kind of thing.

Hi, investigating a possible boat swop for up to a month which, if it comes off would see us sailing around the Martha's Vinyard area of eastern USA.

Hopefully the lad should be on his last year at uni and the official "do" will be sometime in July. So we were thinking of popping down to Belgium during May/beginning of June but have changed our minds because of the red diesel issue. Alternatively, it could be a quick visit to Boulogne but that could change if the French start to look into fuel tanks!! So, it could be somewhere on the sunny east coast.

After the official "do"? Will have to wait and see but visiting the Channel Islands again are a strong possibility--via the south coast.

Feels like we could be '0ld-billy-no-mates' this year.

I have the pilot books and the articles for S. Ireland and West coast. The impression I get is that it is a very expensive place unless we can anchor a lot, in which case it'll be back to the W coast Brittany but much further south. I notice that the Brest festival is on in July and isn't this year of the Douarnanez one too?

Lots of music and good food!

PS Our boat will be 41 years old in 2012. When will we qualify to be some sort of a classic and so sneek in as an "entrant" (with some of the 'perks') rather than just a visitor?
