Woke up this morning to find a brand spanking new yacht parked (just kidding, i know its really 'moored') outside my flat...

I dont know much about this yachting and boating lark (i'm just the ybw web techie..) but it looks like a posh one to me.. moored on the thames a stones throw from Cascades Tower near Canary Wharf..

Was wondering if any of you lot own it :)

I'll post a photo if i find my digital camera.. dunno what she's called as its sideways on to me at the mo.

Well - thank you for that.
Should we go through your post and get you up to speed on a few issues.
Your refer to Lark - technically this is a dinghy - often used by universities for tam racing but nevertheless a dinghy - so that belongs in Yachts and Yachting not Scuttlebut.
You refer to the boat in question being sideways on - perhaps beam to might be abetter way of describing her (not it)
Finally Paul - you mention a stones throw. I feel that is an unhelpful remark in that it doesn't really convey much in terms of a perspective on distance. we are used to cables as a measurement - naturally a stone's throw means different things to different people - Mrs ToMo will be able to throw a stone a lot further than most as she is a woman of remarkable physique - and the whole issue of stone throwing is really to be avoided as it smacks of vandalism.
Perhaps if you could give the forum information regarding the Burgee and Ensign and of course the Yacht Club - we may find this useful for identification purposes?
In all - not a bad start and I'm quite sure that with the appropriate coaching you will become quite an accomplished and knowledgeable contributor.
Finally - you refer to a digital something or other - what is this?

regards
Claymore

Could you elaborate on the spanking? We do that on our craft also. Perhaps a special interest forum could be organised?

I always understood you journos went to bed in the morning and woke up sometime after lunch, just in time for last orders at 3:00 p.m?

Why is your digital camera sideways on to you - can't you walk around to the end of it?

Good post, though. Attracted plenty of attention from those of us with little to do.

Re: sailyboat hints

It's not good idea to view sailboats who moor or leave in early/late hours as "bit suss" since they travel v slowly, and have tides to take into account.

There again, it could be packed to the gunnels with something. March aboard waving your kings reach tower security pass, and announce yourself as Canary Wharf security or similar, anybody can stop anyone on the Isle of Doggies, and report back.

Are you in Cascades then? We rented there a while ago when it first went up, very rivery. But rest of dog island coveered in cement dust...
