Hi all

I have a mk 3 fairline holiday, which is currently leaking like a sieve.

One of the biggest problem areas is the lower front window, I have tried to dismantle it, but the previews owner has some how glued the frame onto the body??? Any further attempt at pulling will either see me cracking a large section of fibreglass or taking an unwanted swim.

I was considering carefully cutting the original frame out (as copious amounts of silicone hasn't worked) obviously making the hole larger, and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to having a custom window made.
My boat is moored on the Medway.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. You might consider talking to a friendly Autoglass fitter? They can be pretty handy at fixing screens. He might be keen to look at something different from the normal Fiesta/Focus etc.

Is the leak glass to frame or frame to boat?
I had my windscreens off the boat 2 years ago, as the rubber seals around the glass to frame had completely perished.
I had the boatyard carefully rake out the seals to a depth of about 8mm using a hook rake made from an old file. sharpened only on one side and bottom to prevent damage to the anodizing.
Masked up the glass, Re sealed with a 2 part rubber mix, inside and out, trimmed up with Stanley knife when dry, removed tape, Refixed to boat using new sealant. Good as new..
I have successfully removed windows that have been Sikaflexed in with a thin metal strip, like a cabinet scraper tapped in between the alloy frame and the GRP.. If you can get top and ends free, it may come free..
Mind your fingers!!! You can maybe repair any gel damaged afterwards, and wipe off any bloodstains...

Thanks Rafiki

The leak was actually from both, I managed to stop the the glass to frame, but not the frame to boat.

I will look into the two part rubber mix, to be honest I've never heard of it, but that sounds better than the traditional silicone, if I can avoid cutting the frame out all the better.

I will add a picture later on today.

Thanks for the advice, I will try another repair before I completely cut it out.
