I have been working on a website intended to cover most of the Channel
harbours, giving details of entry/hazards etc, and illustrating it with photos.

If you would care to take a look, it is at: www.channelpilot.info

Comments, suggestions, corrections and updates gratefully received.

Looks good at first sight. Enjoyeed the Azores account. Also like the pics

You can get permission to reproduce UKHO charts provided you a) own them b) keep them low-resolution c) make it clear not to be used for navigation d) acknowledge the source. It's a bit of a hassle, but recently I was granted permission for free (provided not used for commercial gain).

A few comments:

Cowes - E Cowes at least as expensive to berth as W Cowes, if not more. You should mention the Ferry Inn (cheap to moor) 2M up the Medina river with the Island Harbour Marina beyond.

Portsmouth approach - should keep W to small boat channel from No 4 buoy to Ballast. Gap in barrier marked by Dolphin to S and green post to N. Hazards- strong eddies in entrance.

Lymington & Yarmouth - beware of strong cross tides in approach.

Treguier - can confirm not to be recommended in the dark after doing so recently! Locals tend to use slack water to berth or leave due to current running across pontoons.

Good site!

Tom
