Arrived. But thinking of a bit more east.

I like it.

Our boat was too big for the pontoon berth, they squeezed up the fore and aft buoys so we were left with the pontoon on starboard as you approached which usually seems to have long term boats moored.

I like the idea of the chevroned fingers but am disappointed to not see rolls of barbed wire in the water where the local scrotes jump in.

Oh, they are brave?

i used to quite like a trip to Lymington Town Quay.
Those berths will have been a sizeable investment.
However those prices will filter out any boat where there is only one person paying. i.e. families, couples, solo sailors.
Where the costs are shared amongst the crew it’s ok. The place is going to loose something for everyone and only serve a niche.
A short stay for us would be £18 :-(

At least it makes Berthon seem less extravagant. 8 years on that was still my most expensive visitor night (though under the circumstances totally worth it)

I love Lymington, spent 6 weeks there back in 2018 on Dan Bran pontoon pre latest upgrades at the quay. AIUI the harbour is currentlyclosed to leisure vessels now until lockdown ends, so prices are academic anyway.

'Ang on a minute. The price for a 37ft boat is about 4 pints of Guinness. I've been going there for 40 years and don't believe it ever cost much less than that.

We always used the fore-and-aft moorings for smaller craft, which these pontoons now displace. There are still some apparently, by it will be a longer row. The trouble with prices is that it is nothing for four chaps on a weekend out who will be sharing and spending five times that amount on a meal ashore, but prohibitive for couples or small families.

£50 for the marina starts to look like good value if you compare it to other places where you run up a water taxi bill and pay separately for showers.

I take the view that sailing costs a lot of money even when you don't go anywhere, so a £50 weekend to Lymington can be much better value than not going anywhere.

Looking at the layout I would anticipate some interesting manoeuvres followed by the crunch of gelcoat on exit.

Yikes! Ive got an AWB and like to back in against a finger then casually step off the bathing platform with the electric cable. I can see that's going to end in a dunking!

You must have quite a small boat to get away with £50 for 2 nights and I'm sure you have fun (I did), but given the layout and expenditure I'm not sure small is their target market.
