Hi, I'm pretty much a yachting newbie looking for ideas for my first boat.
I'm 60 years old and will be retiring to the Falmouth area fairly soon. I have sailed a little over the years; Hobbie Cats on holidays, RYA Start Sailing course, etc but never owned a boat.
I'd like to start with a trailer sailer, around 20 foot, that I can keep at home. I'll probably always be launching it only a few miles from home. I'm fairly handy on the DIY front but not looking for a project.
I'd like something with a reasonable degree of comfort in order to attract my good lady to accompany me from time to time.
Not sure how much I'd like to spend; probably up to £15,000 but more for the right boat.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
