Hi,

I have been searching for a boating forum for ages, and at last, I have found one.
One problem though is that I am a narrowboat owner and I was wondering if WE as a race are welcome here?
If so, I have a few questions I would like to ask, but more later once I get some feedback.

Thanks
Mike.

Welcome

Fire away with your questions! Doesn't matter what sort of boat you float - they all sink if they've got a hole! OK, wait for a response from an Etap owner!!!

Cheers,

Jerry

Everbody gets the P**s taken out of them for something so don't worry, or take any notice, of deragatory comments about ditch-crawlers etc.
Most of the engine, electrical etc. questions that you might have are commen to raggies and those boats that exist to annoy raggies.
welcome to the forum. Paul

The only qualifications is that you sometimes (but not always) make references to a craft (which might not be your own) that *should* float. Of course, it may never actually do so. This easily encompasses narrowboats, and many bathtubs too.

welcome.

Hi, not many narrowboat peeps around so a welcome addition, there may be a few on the liveaboard forum, but that shouldn't stop you asking here.

I live on a wide-beam dutch barge on the Aire + Calder Nav, a boat is a boat. At the end of the day we all boat for the same reason 'ENJOYMENT' well most of the time!

Welcome

Regards

Paul.

Hi redhot.

Welcome to the forum. All sorts here from the 'Take it away project' (Me) to the million pound gin-palace. All you need is a thick skin coz we can get a bit lippy sometimes espeshally after closing time. Ask any questions as they may be of interest to me once I get my baby back in the water.

Welcome aboard Mike, good to see you have taken the time to provide some info on your profile, this helps when answering a question.

So, now that you have made your first post, how about your first question.........

I've got a video somewhere made by some "NUTTER" with a narrowboat who sailed it across Liverpool bay from the Mersey estuary to the Lune estuary! As this is a rather more ambitious voyage than almost all those I've undertaken in my little "proper yacht", who am I to cast the first stone?!

As far as I'm concerned you're more than welcome!

Welcome to the madhouse. You're profile says Reading. Are you based on the Avon & Kennet?

Fire away

I certainly won't get all snotty about narrow boats.

My first trip on a smallish boat was in a 70' canvas topped narrowboat around the Cheshire Ring in the coldest/ wettest April I can remember. I was 11 at the time. It was huge fun. Only threw myself in once (forgot to let go of the mooring rope when slinging it to the bank.. what a fool!). Convinced me boats were the thing.

Regards

Richard
