Hi. I am looking to semi retire soon.
I'm looking for a yacht to live on in the summer months based in the UK.

So not a proper live aboard.?

I have a budget of around 15k
My partner and our little son will occasionally join me.
I would appreciate your experience in helping me make a choice.
Thank you.

You've given us a wide brief really, apart from the price.
Some decisions I think you need to make before you ask the question "what boat"
Do you need large as in more space or can you and family live on a small cramped oldish sailing boat that may well be damp even in the uk summer. At your price bracket any boat you choose will almost certainly be oldish.
Do you need to be marina based as in tied up with shore access ar are you happy on a mooring with dinghy access.
Where in Uk do you think you would like to be based. Mooring charges vary tremendously across the country and liveaboard rules vary across marinas. Some boats are better suited to certain areas of the country, as in deep or shallow keel, does it need to dry out etc etc.
Do you intend to sail the boat or are you going to leave it static and use it as a houseboat.
Lots of other questions to be answered but start with some of the above and then start to formulate what you are really looking for in amenities onboard and type of boat.
If you are going to live onboard for several months of the year then I think you could legitimately be called "liveaboard" for that period. Especially in the UK summer. :)
Someone will be along soon who has done this before to help you but you do need to narrow down some of your options.
Good luck and hope it works out.

Thanks.
That certainly gives me something to think about. I think I will be mainly based in a marina in Wales, with around a month or more a year sailing, maybe to Ireland or Cornwall.
