New to the forum

On old cars the mechanical fuel pump was often bolted to the side of the block and could leak fuel into the engine.

I don't know if your engine is arranged that way. The usual fix is to replace the fuel pump.

There are other possibilities but that would be a good starting point. You will need to renew your oil I expect.

Edit: Now I'm using a proper keyboard, a seriously leaky pump would also show a rise on the dipstick. If it hasn't, then it's a relatively small amount and shouldn't have diluted your oil and potentially caused other problems. Alternatively, I'm wondering if the carb is so rich that fuel may be washing past the pistons and into the sump.

Can anyone help identify which oil filters will fit my engine, I've looked everywhere for an engine no. And have come up with nothing? I've think i've looked in all the places the volvo manual suggests!
I'm almost certain that the carb was at fault so I ordered a recon Rochester from Rock Auto on Tuesday and it arrived this morning.
New oil purchased, so just need to get a new filter, fuel filter will be changed also.

Any help appreciated as always.
