I'm currently looking to upsize my 18 ft trailer sailer to something around 26 ft. I'm going to look at a Sadler Frigate 27 on Sunday. Has anyone any experience of this particular model or of Sadlers in general, or indeed any suggestions for alternatives? My price ceiling is £13,000 and my location is the NW of England.
Thanks a lot.

I think I'm correct in saying that this boat was designed by David Sadler but not built by him or his company. I seem to remember they were available as hulls/decks/kits from an Isle of Wight company (Island Plastics?) so many were home built. I'm sure it will sail well - all Sadler's boats do - but the quality and fitout will have to be found by a very careful inspection.

I believe they were mainly supplied "bare hull" or hull and deck for home finishing and hence were not foam injected and hence tend to sink when holed unlike "real" Sadlers such as mine which will float. (actually tested or so I am lead to believe!)

Main concern would be standard of fitting out and finishing if a home finished one. From my limited experience home finished boats are either superbly done or are a disaster - there does not seem to be much "middle ground"
