I couldn't see a derrick to deploy & recover the floatplane ( & RIBs too I guess ) but on second look it's a nifty low profile job.

Gotta hand it to the owner, she looks a useful vessel, not just a pointy phallic symbol for Monaco...

There are two very large davits on the starboard side. You can see the crane for the floatplane in the video.

It's still being fitted out at the quayside.

Yes, very nice .....

Understated, practical, serious looking.

Do they offer the option of an A22 instead of one of the RIBs, though?

There is room on the starboard for a much larger boat; I'm sure they must have had an A22 in mind. if I were the owner I would like to be able to get away from the crowd from time to time.

So just put everybody else in it.

Yersin belongs to the boss of Leader Price discount stores is 76.6m long, 1800 tonnes and has a range of 12000 miles. It is ice certified and can accomodate 18 guests. It has been designed to serve also as a base for scientific studies and has two laboratories on board.

it is named after a Franco-Swiss research scientist.

Chantiers Piriou, the yard which built Yersin, was set up 50 years ago. It has quadrupled its turnover in the last 10 years and expects to double it again in the next 5 years. They started out by repairing fishing boats, and, anticipating the decline in the activity, branched out into naval construction and now into super yacht production. They say that the current problem in superyacht construction is the lack of capacity. They now employ 1200 workers and it is 75% owned by the directors.

Would I have named a boat like that after a scientist who had the plague enterobacterium yersinia pestis named after him ? A microscopic step too far, perhaps.

This boat is back on the market after only 5 years. Perhaps "Leader Price" are feeling the pinch?

I watched it being fitted out at Concarneau.
