New Shell Channel Pilot Book

"when all the websites and almanacs have come and gone" is a quote from the advertisement in the link. Yes that's right because the internet website craze is just a passing fad, and mariners know that when they get jaded with the new and comprehensive data in their almanac, they can fall back on a large, heavy, poorly indexed hardback book which is full of 3-yr old anecdotes about not being able to buy proper pie and mash in Salcombe on a Saturday night, and costs £35...

Not even a particularly subtle one ...

:)

Edit: I don't have a problem with Mr. Shand posting on these fora per se but I do feel his commercial affiliation should be made clear in his profile and signature

Thank you for your suggestion. I have updated my account accordingly.
I appreciate feedback and will happily offer any advice and assistance from within the industry.

"...anecdotes about not being able to buy proper pie and mash in Salcombe on a Saturday night...

Never mind pie and mash in Salcombe, what about a proper pastie?

I rather went off the Shell Almanac for a while ... a new edition I bought in the '80s had information about the new marina in Trebeurden, but failed to mention the only completed item was the breakwater...

So I wasn't tempted again until the late '90s when Tom took over as editor. Colour photos!

What's new this time?
