Just read the MB&Y write up on the new Sessa C46 and I don't think I've ever read a more positive boat report. Quotes like "The best IPS boat yet", "upper end of mainstream production", "fairline and sunseeker for example: Sessa have nothing to fear from these impressive boat builders" all without the usual ? after the statement. It's a fantastic looking boat, just a shame I haven't got £450k spare...

It also has the nice blue hull that loads of people slagged off on the Sealine SC38

Is this going to be another trend for builders?

BTW i too liked the report. not very often you get glowing everywhere.

cancel all thos "other" holidays and i could see an order being placed /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've seen the C52 up close in Cannes at the boat show, looks great from a distance but the quality of some of the mouldings weren't that great, so I don't think fairline or others have anything to worry about as this will appeal to people that want more boat than quality for their money.

No doubt - It's impressively flashy - a really big speed boat, call me auld fashoned but me I like boats that look like little ships - for living on! I'm not taken by many of these newer designs, and I especially dislike much of the Italian styling that is spoiling the cozyness of so many makes. There is too much space wasted on sun loungers, etc, and aft deck space eating into valuable internal cubic capacity. Thankfully many US designs remain conservative and biased towards space and function rather the visual appeal. I'm youngish and I love boats like Atlantics, Broom, Nordhaven, Grand Banks, Dutch and Swedish designs. This med style disease is not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the design inovation and engineering of so many of the new designs. So sorry, but verdict from here - Uggghhh! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

you are right, but I have to admit that last season I met an Italian bloke which just took delivery and oh it looked fantastic
I think in boatshows especially if the boat is still in it's begining you'd still want to watch more then you see and speak about what you don't like with the yard and see it's comments

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't rubbish, far from it, it just wasn't quite Fairline spec.

If it was my money and I had the biggest you could get from Sessa lined up against the biggest you could get for the same money from Fairline I am sure I would take the Sessa over the fairline......accepting that I am swapping more boat for less flash!!

Don't forget, only 5 months away from skiing season /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We'll have to see if we can refrain from losing your glasses and cracking your head open.....and neither had anything to do with skiing

Tell me. In this pic is it in it's cruising trim or is it still climbing onto the plane? Personally I like a boat to ride as near level as possible. If only so that you can see where you are going.

Just a few examples of Italian design you might be interested in.
'course they're almost unknown compared to Azimut, Ferretti and the likes.
But rest assured that if you want to throw some money in a "little ship", we have builders who can deliver! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Think again

I think Italy wheter you like it or not has always been the school in design for the other builders to follow....

if you like Italian timeless conservative design

look for the likes of Itama, Italcraft or Rizzardi

or motoryachts with the likes of Sanlorenzo, Posillipo or Falcon

or even how the italian reinvented the lobster boats with the stlye of Mochi or Franchini
but also how the input of Zuccon (designer of Ferretti and the legendary Posillipo Technema of the 80s) have improved the design and sucess of Bertram

I also have to say that even for sucessful models in Europe an Italian designer is always on the works look for the Muse by Rodman or the Astondoa which lately are going in pretty high number....

as for the Sessa it is an Italian built designed boat but like Cranchi it is also a very international boat

Re: Think again

Absolutely beautiful design those boats.....

Much better than the sleek modern boats that seem to have no character! (IMHO anyway!)

I'll be buying something like that in a few years, to cruise the Med....(only a dream at the moment) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What make are the ones you've shown...especially the first big white boat?

Re: Think again

Sorry, IMHO they look like a childrens bath toy designer created them.

I am sure I had one of these as a kid, bright red plastic hull with bright yellow topsides and funel with made in hong kong on the hull ;-)

I would hope it's accelerating or not quite up to cruising speed cause looking at the sundeck cushions aint good for navigation...

Re: Think again

Yum Yum - Nice /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Now your talking.

How about 40-50ft size range?

Especially like the boats in photos 1, 4 and 5, not so sure about 2 and 3.
