We have new year resolutions - the gym I use is full of them at the moment :D So how about making a few new season sailing resolutions? Say two or three to be realistic.

Mine are:

1/ this year we will do MoB practise with SWMBO driving
2/ This year I will do some single handing
3/ This year I will organise a lads weekend on board

I resolve to not make a fool of myself in the marina lock any more! Life will be very boring in the marina - my attempts at entering the lock and mooring in it are a great spectator sport!

Mine are remarkably similar to yours. + Actually use the cruising chute when conditions are right rather than thinking of excuses not to.

I've already mapped the whole season out to make sure as many weekends as possible are in SWMBOs diary as sailing weekends. If they are not, I find myself booked into other things. So that's my main resolution- get more sea time by planning it! We are also going to do some MOB practice which is sadly neglected and have a sailing instructor pal booked to help with this in part as a refresher.

To visit new ports and anchorages: even in 30 years of sailing in the Solent I haven`t been everywhere: dry out in Newport or Ryde: have only visited over the top of the tide, anchor in Totland bay, try to get up Ashlett creek, Town quay marina at Southampton, in france, port en bessin, isigny or binic, beaucette in Guernsey, Shoreham: see my other thread. I find I get drawn to favourite places time and again, Newtown, Folly, Beaulieu river, lymington and Yarmouth, do you keep going to the old faves or scrapping the barrel over new places?

For me 2014:
Sail less Single Handed,
Make sure I get most time in sailing (miles do not worry me),
Try and visit one new port,
Get a faster speed out of boat than last year (already done 4th sail this year),
Enter at least one race,
Sail more with my daughter,

2015 resolutions:
Not stuff my back up on 4th day sail of the year (it was fun though),
Beat last years best speed,

... to actually go to the boat

instead of spending my precious family freetime with totally duplicitous fender kickers driving me mad :encouragement:

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE..............Grrrrrrrrrrrr :p

Edit. Whoops, just noticed n4585k's post further up so should point out my post is not related to his! :)

To take more people sailing who have never been sailing before.

And (separately) to win things.

Mine are:

Wining the Lotto. Lifting the phone and starting the process to order the dream boat.

Back in the real world...

Clock up some single handed miles in readiness for the delivery of the dream boat and that interesting little voyage.

Thanks jonic! I was ready to buy a boat and had the surveyor lined up to go. I then heard nothing for 3 days from the broker, even though I emailed him asking to get back to me. I later found out that someone else was interested too and offered a bit more than I did. Not at all impressed with this broker. I am contemplating a 'name-and-shame' here on YBW!

Hang on unless I am missing something here, are you saying you wouldn't or couldn't pay enough and someone else could, so they bought the boat but you want to name and shame the seller for accepting a better offer and not going with your lower offer?

Had both parties signed the sale and purchase agreement and had you paid a deposit, or have l got this the wrong way round?
