I've got a 13 year old Sealine T51 with the original carpets. I think it is time to replace them. I have an overlay carpet for the main area but it gets rucked up all the time. I really want to replace the original stuff.

But not only does it go up the walls in many places, the floor is in sections that you take out to gain access to the engine below. I have no idea how you get it off and how you fit a new one back on. The stuff on the walls is OK but I would like to change the colour. I think I would prefer a darker colour but I am not sure how well it would go with the dark cherry wood.

Can anyone who has done this before give some guidance and a recommendation for who they used to do it? I am Solent based.

The photo (not my boat but very similar) shows the floor panels and the carpet on the walls (well the riser of the steps really).

Once did the job ourselves on a T47 of 2001 vintage. At that time Sealine certainly didn't mean the carpet to come up easily. It was glued to the floor panels and we ended up cutting strands of glue with a Stanley knife as the carpet gradually came away. We ended up with a very nice job at a fraction of the price a professional would have charged but it's not an excercise I would like to repeat (nor would SWMBO!!!).

We have just recarpeted our 2003 Sealine S23 and had the same problem. In places the glue they used was pulling up pieces of the ply flooring!!

At least it is a small carpet though. Wouldnt fancy it on a bigger boat. It took us long enough to do ours.

Love that leather. Thats the look we are going for with ours.

We have just done the carpets a brown colour in readiness for the retrim of the upholstery.

Would you mind if I showed our trimmer a copy of those pictures so we can show him what we want to aim for?

No problem using photos , good luck with getting yours finished . Only problem with having it all redone is SWMBO keeps getting in the way with the duster & Hoover ;)
