"A much better bet for a man with a growing family."
I don't think open transoms are compatible with growing families. I love the RM range ever since the RM 10:50 was boat of the year about 10 years ago. However this current fashion of open transoms is dangerous in a storm and not practical for cruising. Look at all the potential stowage space wasted.
Unfortunately no agent in the UK (I believe), so you need to go direct to RM.
I have to say my experience was that dealing direct was far more preferable than dealing with the original UK dealer Portway, who I bought from. It was the factory visit and the excellent attitude of this family run business that convinced me to buy.
Now I understand why you had triplets... to justify considering this monster!
She probebly sails like a beauty but:
1) don't like the open transom (becasue of aesthetics and practical reasons)
2) don't like the double wheel
3) the paint job could have ben much nicer.
Having said that, if it were given to me I would not complain.

reckon me as well! And also another forumite, tony, who has an 880.
But I also fail to recognise the need for open transoms (although it gives you a wonderful impression of speed when powering up, and easy for access to dinghy etc). I did pose a question on this forum last year about the rationale behind open transoms on yachts with aspirations towards performance, but no convincing posts in response received
