New RHYC Building

Any forumites had a chance to check out the new clubhouse at the RHYC. I know its not finished yet but it looks a bit like a large wooden shed at the moment!

Looking smart last week, very continental, would sit nicely next to the Versemeer. It's the best spot on the Orwell IMHO.

It looks like it might be water tight so guess internal fit out will be under way,still a bit to do on the outside cladding.

Looking great and taking shape, last few weeks will see alot of internal work and final fixes. Facilities will be second to none.
Memberships are welcome. hopefully we have secured a legacy for a long life on beautiful R Orwell for may a generation of East Coast Sailors. I must declare I am a member.

It's got to be better than the old one, which had all the ambiance of a motorway services.

Lets hope the new building comes with new caterers, I have only eaten once and it was poor, small portions, unimpressive menu, rather expensive for what you got

Have eaten several times over years for Club meets of 30+ and normally catering & cost has been OK to good. Back there mid June with RNSA I believe.

Unfortunately the standard of catering can be variable at the best of times D&T's post sums up why I am often rather loathe to invite guests to eat at the club.

For better or for worse I understand it will be the same catering team working there as we had last year. The club has asked for feedback so hopefully they put it good use.

I tend to eat there mid week and find the food good. I wonder if the old kitchen was too small and thy struggled at weekends.

Perhaps new kitchen will be bigger.
