Thoroughly recommended as excellent value, very welcoming and first class food with commanding views of Guernsey, Herm, Sark , Alderney and your own boat :)

Now part of the Tatty Bear empire, the restaurant benefits from a complete facelift and top class chef , presentation is excellent .

More welcoming for a drink too

Dolphin Stores (a short stroll away) is now also under new management as 'Smugglers Stores' and has everything you need from duty free stores to Sunday papers.
Beaucette is worth a visit and legal to fill your tanks with duty free fuel too :)

We were there a week or so back, their Sunday roast was first class. Excellent decor and friendly staff. As you say a great place to have a drink with fab views.

I also nearly mentioned the Sunday roast :)
( I had it as a special on the Monday evening)
£10.50 and 1/2 inch of Ribeye Tremendous value :)

If you look carefully at the cil photo I deduce the wash is you leaving early hours, small world !

I was there for a couple of days about 10 days ago - saw Felix near the office and dropped by to say hello a couple of times to find that you were "from home" both times.

We had supper in the restaurant one of the nights and the food quality was good, but it arrived in dribs and drabs and I had to ask for my side order or it would never have arrived. We found the staff a little surly (one waitress actually elbowed me out of the way in order to lay my steak knife!) but there were 16 of us in our party so maybe we over-taxed them a little.

Beaucette is very pleasant, but a little disconcerting to approach at sundown with the sun directly behind the entrance.

We left midday 2 weeks ago to spend a rolly night on Sark. Sorry we missed you.

We liked Beaucette, very dog friendly (we have 2) and a good atmosphere about the place. We found the service to be very good in the restaurant although we also heard from one of the live aboards that there had been a few teething problems which is only to be expected for somewhere newly opened.

Had they fixed their wifi when you were there?

Sorry to have missed you, you were certainly welcome for a beer or two , bubbly for the ladies and now almost embarrassed to admit G&T has found its way onto the boat :o (coded job lot in cans, too cheap to let go);)

Its brand new opened and large groups were an issue to begin with, we were part of a group 21 ish one night and the service was very quick, food perfect.

Agreed the first time visitor should aim for daylight , low swell and 3 hours either side of high water

Its been overwhelmed for the last 2 years by some of the live aboards , many of whom have now got their own systems in place, always best to log on at unsocial hours.

New wifi equipment was ordered while we were there, so it could well be working by now , in any event there is free access to the counter computer in the office , just click favourites for the weather sites .

I had some good meals at the 'old' place a few years ago now though.

Thanks for the update Pete - will make a point of giving it a go as I will probably pop in to refuel when heading for the scuttlebutt Cherbourg event.

Hi Duncan,

good to hear from you, you sort of went missing for a while, busy boating I trust :)
cheers
Pete

the opposite I am afraid - but ran over to Yarmouth last week for a night and am just looking for a weather window to head off again (anywhere). Hoping to spend some time in September out and about.

as you know I'm at a size where the weather makes a huge difference to the enjoyment - and an age where enjoyment counts!

Yeah that photo pretty much shows my experience - we'd had a lovely day in Sark and I timed our arrival at Beaucette to be just right for the tide, but never stopped to consider for an instant what effect the sunset would have on the visibility.

We filled up while we were there - 68p/litre for 700 litres.

Overall we had a great time there so definitely want to repeat the experience next year.
