Hmm
Looks too good to be true - I mean, it ticks all the right boxes (type approval /2yrs warranty/spares carried/carried in stock ready for despatch) plus the prices are right.
This probably means one of 2 things to my suspicious mind:
1) This is a scam to obtain your cash up front for delivery
2) This is a mass produced chinese made machine (ParSun?) which may not be particularly well made. I see plenty of similar gear made in china in respect of Quads/garden machinery so this may be a similar brand.
Unless you are in the Trade, even to receive such an e-mail would be very suspicious as bona fide wholesalers/trade are normally very cagey about wholesale prices.
I would avoid them, IMHO, and look to a Trade Show to locate such equipment if wanted.
Cheers
Rob

I suppose you could treat them as disposable outboards, but why bother when you can get proper Tohatsu's with dealer backup and spare parts for only a few quid more.

dv.

Bill/Simon Higham are well known distributors of most mainstream outboards eg mariner, tohatsu, yamaha etc so this is most unlikely to be a scam however I have seen the adverts for these motors and would also be interested in the "provenance" of these outboards ie are they made in china(?) under licence to manufacturers or cheaply made , inferior copies made without the blessing of the designers/manufacturers and probably destined for low life and problems

interesting website - carefully does not say where they are produced!

Not a scam,

They are real. Whilst we all worry about how good the engines are, Bill Higham will be there to look after them. I think they are similar to Kippor Generators. You pay for what you get.

Only time will tell!

Cheers

yep your right -

as I said it was email mailshot I have no interest in buying one (I have a perfectly good mercury 3.3HP)

If they are Yamaha copies, then the Chinese will not have concerned themselves with any IP issues. If Yamaha has any IP which is valid in the UK then it is illegal to sell, buy or own one of these copies.

Highly unlikely that individual owners would be prosecuted, but if the importer is, then support and spares could dry up.

If this were the case, then it would be the same situation as the Kippor generators, which you can no longer purchase in UK after Honda took action

I think they will be ok motors - however as someone said there may be the very odd issue with Copyright - however I suspect as it's Bill Higham Marine, it should all be fine and if they are copies of Yamaha, you could probably use Yam bits!

They certainly look good value.
