the old osborne is coming along nicely now. all the rot and muck gone, lots of nice new wood. new decks, and just finishing the bulkheads off.

now's the time to replace those tired old petrols....

bought a montego 2.0 turbo diesel with a spare engine, so they'll have to do for now.

might marinise them properly... but probably not... anyone running perkins prima's or MD 2020's?

got a pair of watamota/wortham blake/lancing 1600cc crossflow petrols if anyone's interested. need to be stripped/checked/rings and shells, but they'd go again... let me know.

Id marinise them properly personally. There very hardy engines that would go forever if ther cars didnt rot so fast!

Over 300,000miles wasnt uncommon with more life still to go!

Marinise them properly, and if you do change your mind, someone will always want to buy them if you then wish to sell them again.

aaah, The perkins prima, also sold as VP TMD 22 i think.....

Top engines, tough as old boots. I concur with the other poster; marinise them properly and they'll last a very long time.

cheers,
David

Worth remembering, the LDV truck people, Adams Morey still stock many spares for the old Prima engines, as they were fitted to Diesel Sherpa vans 1986 - 1989. My 1988 Sherpa is still going strong on a rebored engine. I think the clock has been round at least twice!

Sold a pair of old BMC 2.5s complete with Paragon boxs for a grand. One engine had cooked the other used oil they were hard to start and the boxs rattled, they were sold 'As sean' to a chap in the same marina when he ASKED to buy em.

I re-engined with two 2nd hand Ford Trany lumps new gearbox's, Lancing marinise kits and Aquadrives, the lot worked out around 6 grand.
